Coral Pearson Revel - Ceramics: I became interested in working in clay, after many years of working in Psychology, and in the distant past, fashion design. My tuition consists of a short course at ArtStation, Auckland, NZ in 2007, under the tutelage of Bronwynne Cornish. Along with this I have participated in two Summer Schools, one led by Michael O’Donnell, the other by Richard Parker. All three tutors were most helpful and encouraging, reinforcing my passion for the medium. Many of my sculptural pieces are figurative, drawing upon body language, gestures, and sometimes juxapositioning features to depict an attitude or emotional expression. There is a constant endeavour to develop a feeling of liveliness as opposed to likeness, and for a piece to have a life of its own. This tends to evolve during the making as a spontaneous part of the creative process, rather than being purposely sort. Many of my works are in private collections in NZ, Australia, UK, USA, Canada and Germany
